U Shelter was established in 2010 in Ukraine as a grassroots response to the widespread suffering of abandoned, abused, and injured animals. It began with just a few rescued dogs and horses, but quickly expanded as the need for safe refuge became impossible to ignore. Over the years, U Shelter has grown into one of the largest and most respected animal sanctuaries in the country, now housing and caring for over a thousand animals — including dogs, cats, horses, cows, goats, pigs, and other farm animals saved from neglect, slaughter, or life-threatening conditions.
The shelter operates as a no-kill sanctuary, providing lifelong care to animals who cannot be adopted due to age, disability, or trauma. Each animal at U Shelter receives medical attention, proper nutrition, and individualized care, along with space to roam freely in large, open areas designed for their physical and emotional recovery. The team works tirelessly to create a peaceful, natural environment where animals can heal and live without fear. In cases where adoption is possible, U Shelter carefully selects forever homes through a responsible rehoming process.
Beyond daily rescue and rehabilitation work, U Shelter actively raises awareness about animal welfare issues in Ukraine and abroad. Through social media, educational campaigns, and partnerships with local and international organizations, the shelter advocates for systemic change and a more compassionate society. Its story has reached millions and continues to inspire people to take action for animals in need.

We save animals from neglect, abuse, abandonment, slaughter, and life-threatening conditions — including those left behind in rural areas, farms, and urban streets.
We carry out rescue missions in conflict-affected areas, evacuating animals from active war zones and devastated regions. Our goal is to offer immediate safety and long-term recovery.
Our team provides medical treatment, emotional support, and species-appropriate environments to help animals recover from trauma, illness, or injury.
For animals that cannot be adopted due to age, disability, or trauma, U Shelter offers permanent sanctuary. They live freely and peacefully with access to care and companionship for the rest of their lives.
